Porcelain Tile for Floors and Walls
Porcelain is fired at high temperatures into a dense, low-absorption body. That makes it one of the most practical tiles for floors, wet areas and busy homes. Today's printing technology lets porcelain reproduce marble veining, stone texture and wood grain closely, without the sealing that natural materials need. Many of our porcelain lines are made in Italy and Spain.
Where it works
Kitchen and bathroom floors, showers, living areas, commercial spaces and, with the right surface, patios. Grip and textured finishes are designed for wet or outdoor areas. Check each product's slip rating before using it there.
Looks, finishes and sizes
Browse marble look tile such as Calacatta and Carrara styles, along with stone, limestone, travertine look, concrete, wood look, onyx look, slate, terracotta and terrazzo look designs. Most of the collection is large format, from 12x24 and 24x24 up to 24x48 and larger. There are also mosaics, bullnose and trims. Finishes include matte, polished, glossy, natural and grip.
Price range
Most porcelain tile runs about $3 to $8 per sq ft, with premium Italian large formats up to around $12.
Care
Sweep and mop with warm water or a neutral cleaner. The tile doesn't need sealing, but sealing cement-based grout keeps it cleaner longer.
